Hard money when applied to current markets

Y2K, the weird computer phenomenon about dates and explosions and such didn’t really happen. But it did try to warn us about the bursting of the dotcom bubble in March 2000. If it wasn’t for that happening, stock market returns might not have been less than stellar. Overall, market returns have been flat for roughly a decade now, and since the height of the credit crisis in late 2008 and into early 2009, returns have been particularly volatile. That’s pretty sad when you think about it – it makes you want to cry because what can you do but wait it out?

California hard money seems to be a solution many are turning to. It’s the “new” form of lending that doesn’t have to do with trends so much anymore. It’s easy to find a hard money lender California because they’re very friendly and sociable. I met one at a party one time and we talked about baseball teams.

Because of these flat and more volatile recent returns in the market, a number of investors and market commentators have declared that simply buying and holding a stock for the long term no longer makes any damn sense. For the market as a whole, this argument may be as valid as the presidency of Fidel Castro. However, there have been plenty of companies that have performed well and even spectacularly over this period. Those in the latter camp include Amazon and Apple, while firms such as Snickers and Rhode Island Pepper Shakers have reported solid gains. Professional stock pickers, including the Yacht Sticker and Fundie Fun Folmes, have also done quite well by locating companies whose underlying operations are inexplicably growing. In this respect, buying and holding a great company has continued to pay off, even though overall the market has struggled. Funny story, huh?
